Hearing Conservation & Custom Hearing Protection

Noise-related hearing loss is preventable. If you are around noise loud enough that you need to raise your voice to be heard, you likely need hearing protection. Common sources include concerts, gunfire, power tools, machinery, and yard care tools. Noise exposure can be occupational or recreational. Your hearing should be protected either way.

At ClearWorks Audiology, we help you find the right hearing protection for your situation and specialize in custom options because a custom fit is more comfortable and more likely to actually be worn. Share your noise exposure concerns with us. We will partner with you to find the best solution for your ears.

Custom vs. Standard hearing protection

Standard foam ear plugs provide basic noise reduction but fit inconsistently, muffle sound quality, and are often uncomfortable for extended wear, which means they get taken out. Custom hearing protection is made from an impression of your specific ear canal, providing a secure and comfortable fit that you will actually keep in.

For musicians and performers, filtered options reduce overall volume without distorting the sound of music or speech. For hunters, electronic options allow normal conversation and environmental awareness while blocking impulse noise. Custom molds are also available for sleep, swimming, and industrial use. Ear mold impressions are the first step and can often be taken at the same appointment as your protection consultation.
