Auditory Processing and Your Hearing Brain

Our auditory system is multilayered and complex. In order to understand the sounds around us, our ears receive and prepare sounds for delivery to the brain. Next, different brain structures play a variety of roles  in sound interpretation. Even before birth, our brains begin to connect to sound and this process continues as we learn to understand the sounds around us and develop language.

As we move through life our hearing brains shift and change, but never become static. This is why the brain is an integral part of the hearing rehabilitative process. At ClearWorks audiology, sound processing in the brain in different situations is always part of our communication evaluation.  Insight into the way your brain processes sound will be part of your hearing rehabilitative plan, ensuring the best hearing outcome.
